It has been just over a year since we came back to the US after our extended trip. It has also been a while since I posted any photos. I thought it was about time to share some photos from our trip and finish what I started.
We spent 5 days in Seam Reap, Cambodia. It was the most remarkable and emotionally taxing part of our trip. Cambodia is a beautiful place with a horrific past. In the 1970s a communist regime committed countless acts of genocide across the country devastating the population. You can read more about that
.
The residual effects of the Cambodian genocide are ever present. The country is still recovering and working to overcome its past but the government is still corrupt, including individuals that were responsible for the genocide. The people have been receiving aide from a number of NGOs and charities. If you have the chance, please consider making a donation or donating your time. organizations working in Cambodia

On a more personal note, I'm not the first tourist to be moved by my visit to the area but I can't help but share. The experience put a number of things in perspective for me. I've thought a lot about what is meaningful in my life and why. I'm still sorting it out but we're all works in progress right? I'm grateful for the time I had there. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed taking them.
