I love dogs. Whenever I see one I light up with joy. Lucky for us we have one who we treat like he's one of our kids (or our only kid). Haslted has been a part of our family for a little over a year and it has been wonderful getting to know him. He has an interesting personality with the same range of emotion as a 16 year old boy.
The other day as I made my morning coffee and took my vitamins, his big amber eyes were looking at me, then over at his water bowl and then at me again. Mind you this is a subtle movement, he doesn't really move his head; just his eyes. I didn't even hesitate, I reached down and picked up the bowl, filled it with water and placed it back on his mat. He walked over to the bowl and lapped it up. It made me think about our amazing relationship with our dog. It may just be my perception of him, but the way he carries himself and how he communicates is very human. He tells us when he's hungry, when he wants to go to the park, when he wants to leave the park, when he wants to cuddle and even says "I love you". All without saying a word. It's all with a look. Sometimes I forget that he's a dog.
I am always trying to capture the expressions on his face and the look in his eyes with my camera. The good news is that he's either becoming a better model or I'm getting faster with my camera controls because I got some good shots of him this weekend. Here's some yellow on yellow action for all you dog lovers out there. :)
